Meet Scott Wiley

The Early Years
My mother, dad, and twin sisters, Alda Wiley Sheckells (Leo) and Melba Wiley McCue (Terry), and I moved to Neptune Beach from High Point, North Carolina, in 1955. I was enrolled in Atlantic Beach Elementary School and then Fletcher High School. During my early high school years, my interest in music began and I taught myself the guitar. By eighth grade, I was playing rhythm and lead guitar for the Rhythm Rebels, the Comets, The Jacksonville Beach Boys, Scot Wiley Trio, and later played bass for the Ramblers, a folk and bluegrass band.

We played for many school functions, like the dances after the football games, Fletcher proms, and school proms in Jacksonville, as well as the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club and for other organizations. A friend and drummer of one of our bands, Butch Trucks, went on to be the drummer for the Allman Brothers.

After graduating from Fletcher, I attended Montreat Anderson Jr. College and then graduated from Jones College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. While at Jones College, I was president of the student council and a member of Phi Theta Pi fraternity. While there, I met Rebecca Jones of Lakeland, Florida, and we were married in 1968 and made Neptune Beach our home.Fletcher Auditorium

My Professional Associations
My business experience includes being an Assistant Vice President at Ocean State Bank and NationsBank for 10 years, and I managed each of their branch offices. For the past 14 years, I have worked with Brumos Motor Cars as their Business Manager and Finance Director and I am currently working for them on a consulting basis. Additionally, I am also the President and a broker of Terry McCue Real Estate, Inc.

I worked for my father who owned Scott Wiley, Inc., an auto dealer in Jacksonville. During that time, an interest in auto racing began and I attended the Sports Car Club of American Driving School at Daytona Speedway. Several years of racing ensued at the Daytona Speedway, Sebring, Savannah International Speedway, and Sebastian, Florida. This led to a time of employment at Brumos Porsche-Audi.

I owned Scott Motor Company, Rebecca Scott Gifts, and was a broker and owner of Scott Wiley Real Estate. All of these were in Jacksonville, Florida.

I was a member of the Florida National Guard and was honorably discharged.

My Passion for Making a Difference
My political career began at age 25 when I was the youngest candidate elected to the Neptune Beach City Council where I served five two-year terms. While on the City Council, I sponsored the first tree ordinance in Neptune Beach history and served as chairman of the Parks and Recreation Committee and the Public Safety Committee.Daytona Raceway

After serving 10 years on the City Council, I served the City of Neptune Beach as a member of the Planning Board, the Board of Zoning Appeals, and as Chairman of the Code Enforcement Board.

Showing My Commitment to the Community
My civic activities include being a member of the Optimist Club of Jacksonville, where I was elected Optimist of the Year. I am also a past member of the Beaches Sertoma Club, and I was a board member of the Boys Club of Jacksonville and the Beaches Board. Additionally, I Scott & Beckywas one of the group of local businessmen who were instrumental in establishing a Boys Club here at the Beach. This organization is now known as Boys and Girls Club. I coached several basketball teams at the Clubs in Jacksonville and the Beaches and sponsored the Boy (member) of the Month Program. I also worked with the United Way™ of Jacksonville and served as Chairman of the Allocation Committee. Currently, I am a member of the National and Florida Association of Realtors®, a member of the National and local chapters of Harley Owners Group, The Patriot Guard Riders, Beaches Watch and The Beaches Historical Society.

Becky and I have been married for 40 years; and we are active members of Neptune Baptist Church and also attend Beaches Chapel. We currently reside on Davis Street in Neptune Beach.
